Arsenal are determined to hold on to Alexis Sanchez but will agree to sell him this summer rather than loose him for free next summer, amid interest from Manchester City.
Sanchez has one year left in his Arsenal contract but he is yet to sign a new deal, despite the club’s attempt to get him to sign a new one.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich have both been heavily linked with the Chilean but it is the Etihad side who are confident they can complete a £50m move this summer.
Reliable BBC journalist David Ornstein has now given us an insight on the Chilean’s future and the journalist claimed via his twitter account that Arsenal have offered the Chilean a huge new deal which he is yet to accept.
However, he added that if the forward insists on leaving, Arsenal will accept a suitable offer.
Ornstein tweeted, via The Express: “Arsenal made Sanchez big offer, hope he stays. But if set on leaving + fee acceptable possible he’ll go this summer rather than free next.
“Worth pointing out that as things stand Arsenal still yet to receive any offers for Sanchez, Wenger planning with him in the team,” he added.
Arsenal’s willingness to listen to an “acceptable offer” for the Chilean represents a change in the club’s stance. Wenger had always insisted the forward will not be sold at any price, instead he will be made to run down the lenght of his contract but Ornstein’s claim suggests the club has softened it’s stand.
Recently, when asked about his future, Sanchez revealed he already knows what he wants to do but will wait until after the Confederations Cup before making his decision public.
