Manchester United will face competition from Arsenal for the signature of Julian Draxler should Jose Mourinho be disappointed in his pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Ibtimes.

Mourinho is keen on signing Mkhitaryan this summer but is finding it difficult due to BVB’s reluctance to sell. However, should their chase for Mkhitaryan be unsuccessful, they will turn their attention to Julian Draxler who according to the report is a target of Arsenal.

The report believes Utd will face competition from Arsenal for the playmaker’s services.

Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and Wenger is seen as a long term admirer of the 22 year old. He recently praised the midfielder in an interview and suggested he will be keeping an eye on the German international.

“At the moment I think most of the young talented players are in France,” Wenger said. “We speak about (Anthony) Martial, we speak about (Kingsley) Coman, who are still about 20. And I’ve seen a very interesting young talent from Turkey – (Emre) Mor.

“You have as well some other players like (Leroy) Sane in Germany. It will be very interesting as well to follow what Draxler is doing, he’s still a very young player.”

The midfielder moved to Wolfsburg last summer and scored five goals and created five in 21 appearances last season. He is expected to cost as much as £38m.
