Barcelona are reportedly ready to move for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka in January.

Goretzka has attracted interest from a host of clubs, with Arsenal keen on completing a deal for the Germany international.

His contract with Schalke expires in the summer and the Bundesliga side have so far failed to agree an extension.

Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the situation with Goretzka potentially available on a free next summer.

But Barca are determined to steal a march and will make an offer in January, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Mundo Deportivo estimate that €10m (£8.8m) to €15m (£13.2m) could be enough to sign the playmaker with Schalke likely to accept bids rather than allow the midfielder to leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Schalke will not let him go on a free and could be willing to sell him in January – should the contract stalemate continue.

Of course both Bayern Munich and Barcelona will be more attractive to the young player than Arsenal . But Wenger need badly to change his way of thiking and attitude in the transfer market. Arsenal need more than the other two team to sign Goretzka as he is a highly talented German International young player and he is reaching the last months of his contract , so his club could be convinced with a generous offer of more than £20m and the player should be assured that he will be a first team player at Arsenal more tha the other top clubs and Arsenal should offer him £150,000 + /week for 5 years to make the offer very attractive to the player. Wenger should act very quickly and starts to negotiate with the club and the player to get the transfer in January. We have lost out in more than a 100 top players in the transfer market because Wenger dragged his feet too long and Lemar case was a good example.
