Brighton 2 vs 3 Arsenal: Player Ratings, MOTM, FOTM.

It should have been a cruise but Arsenal players know how to do it the hard way and while the whole team matches on to the fifth round, some stood out more than the others.

Szczesny: 5

Not going to have Wenger dump Ospina with that kind of nervous performance. Depending on who will be drawn for fifth round, he may have to wait a long time for his next Arsenal game.

Chambers: 6

Either he’s still unwell or it is clear he survives less on the wing. Brighton saw his weakness and pressed more through his wing. Good run and cross for Walcott’s goal though but looks a bit behind Bellerin at the moment.

Koscielny: 7

Not perfect from Lolo, especially turning away from O’Grady’s low shot. But he had a good game no doubt.

Monreal: 6

Maybe his last game as part-time center half with Paulista footsteps away from arriving. Got nabbed out for the second Brighton goal

Gibbs: 6

Good forward play as always.

Flamini: 5 (FOTM)

No one is giving him a new contract, right?

Ramsey: 6

He must know he is neither Zidane or Pele and must play the game to his natural abilities. But then, he will get back to full fitness before long. Should help out defensively more

Rosicky: 8 (MOTM)

Took off from where Santi left last week. Excellent all round, bar the poor clearance leading to the first goal conceded. Wonderful assist and incredible first time volleyed finish. Why is he 34?

Ozil: 6

Probably wished he had been the one supplying the assist to Rosicky. Time in the gym did not show, still his old strolling self, but could get better with games.

Walcott: 7

He’s not so good with build-up play but feed him in the box and let the net bulge. Theo is back! Not just from the goal but switching positions and being dangerous and available.

Giroud: 6.5

Played so well against City that it was expected he’d do much better here. Did not, but was still good value for the troubles he caused Gordon Greer and company with his physicality. Nice chip for Rozza’s stunner.

Subs

Akpom: 6… Good control of the ball at pace; did the required job as outlet.

Alexis: 6… What we’ve come to expect from him. Could have crowned a good free kicks from those attempts.

Coquelin: 6… Boss!
