Nigeria U18 international Victor Osihmen has revealed why he snubbed a move to Arsenal.
The youngster who won the 2015 under 17 golden boot award was seriously linked with a move to the Emirates shortly after the competition but he has now revealed he decided against a move to Arsenal because he wasn’t sure of playing regularly with us.
The striker who joined Wolfsburg last year said he wasn’t sure of his opportunities at the Emirates and opted to join the Bundesliga giants.
“There were many clubs that were interested in me,” Osimhen told Bild, as quoted by Goal.
“But my choice was Wolfsburg because I think that my development opportunities are highest here.
“If I had gone to Arsenal, for example, I might not have found the route to the first team so quickly.
“I love football and I have worked hard to get where I am now.”
Osimhen cost Wolfsburg around €3.5m which wouldn’t have been too much for us to pay. But at the end, it was the players decision not to join us.
I can’t say if he made the wrong or right decision but Arsenal are known for helping young players develop into top stars and there is no doubt that Osimhen would have benefited a lot if he had chose us.
The youngster scored 10 goals as he helped Nigeria to the U17 world cup in 2015 and subsequently won the African youth player of that year.Follow oohtobeagooner on Facebook and Twitter for more latest Arsenal transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours.
