Burnley vs Arsenal. 11th April 2015. Turf Moor.
After 31 games, Arsene Wenger and his men are sitting pretty in second place on 63 points – exactly the same total as they had at the same stage last year.
The above stat however, has raised questions about Arsenal’s progression, yet Wenger is convinced that his side has made significant strides forward this season – and he is sure this will continue when they travel to Turf Moor this weekend.
After such a brilliant performance at the Emirates against Liverpool last weekend, Wenger must decide whether to stick or twist his side for the trip to Burnley.
Having come through Tuesday night’s under-21 game against Stoke City unscathed, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby are all available. However, Wenger has suggested Mathieu Debuchy remains short of a “competitive edge”, although Wojciech Szczesny should be back in contention.
Laurent Koscielny will have a scan on his thigh to determine his involvement, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the only member of the first-team squad definitely ruled out.
Aside this lot, the rest of the side that saw off Liverpool are available for selection and despite Wenger’s options, here is how the boss is expected to line-up his side.
It is expected that with this Arsenal line-up and the form the team are current on, the Gunners should cruise to a comfortable 3-1 victory against 18th place Burnley at Turf Moor this Saturday.
