Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been ripped apart by former Chelsea man Mark Schwarzer.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Schwarzer insists Ozil’s body language cannot be attributed to that of a World class player.
The former Australia international further added that none of Europe’s elite club would make an offer for the German presently as he isn’t top level anymore.
Ozil is out of contract at the end of next season and has received some criticism for the way he behaves on the pitch; and Schwarzer said on talkSPORT via Express:
“He hasn’t got the body language, he has that perception that he’s not trying,”
“That works really against him and when you’re talking about the elite of the elite, when you’re talking about the top levels, your Real Madrids, Barcelonas, Bayern Munichs, clubs are going to be less interested in those kind of players.”
In my own opinion, Schwarzer is right. As an avid Arsenal supporter, I love Ozil and would love to see him stay at our club for many more years to come. However, sometimes – especially in big games, his body language does seem to suggest he isn’t giving 100% on the pitch.
I think Ozil (along with Alexis Sanchez) have been given to much responsibilities at Arsenal and the best way to get the spotlight off him a bit and get the best of his talent is to bring in more world class players to shoulder the responsibilities given to him currently at Arsenal.
Gooners, what do you think about Schwarzer’s comment? Is Ozil no longer commanding the interest of top European clubs or is he just fed up of being forced to remain at Arsenal?
