Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus centre back Danielle Rugani, according to reports.

Rugani is regarded as one of Italy’s most talented players and has been tipped by many to achieve big things in the future.

Although the youngster is yet to fully break into Juve’s first team, he showcased his quality and talents at Empoli during a two year loan spell which ended in 2015.

The Gunners have been monitoring him since then and were even linked with him last summer but Wenger opted to sign a more experienced head in Shkodran Mustafi.

However, Italian publication Calcio Mercato Web via Football Talk claims Arsenal retain an interest in the player.

The report claims a £25m bid has been rejected from the Gunners for the defender.

Wenger has come under even more criticism this season as our chances of winning a major title looks slim and it appears he is keen on strengthening the squad further this summer.

The defense appears to be one position that Wenger wants to strengthen but our bid for Rugani was rejected immediately with the Italian giants keen to hold on to their talented defender.

It would appear surprising to some that Arsenal are being interested in a centre back despite signing Mustafi last summer.

The reason however isn’t far fetched, despite having one of the best first choice centre-back pairings in the Premier League, our back up options do not provide enough quality whenever called upon.

A fact made glaring after our defensed collapsed following Koscielny’s , who we should not forget is on the wrong side of 30, withdrawal in the 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich a fortnight ago.

A quality and talented option like Rugani would definitely be a good signing that will come in handy and further improve our squad immediately and in the future.
