Arsenal are edging closer to landing Serie A hotshot Paulo Dybala, with Palermo’s president publicly stating that Arsenal are the player’s first choice should he agree to make the switch to the English Premier League in the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are believed to have made an opening offer for the Palermo striker, with fellow EPL rivals Chelsea and Manchester City also showing keen interest in the Argentine after sending scouts to watch the player in recent weeks.
Italian giants, Juventus have closely monitored the player’s progress and are regarded by many as favourites also in the race to land the talented forward in the summer.
This report has now been confirmed by Palermo President, Mauro Zamparini while talking to Italian station Radio Marte, he said:
“Juventus and Arsenal have already made ??the offerings, Pierpaolo Triulzi, the boy’s agent, will be in Italy on Friday.”
“My request is more than 40 million euros. Dybala would prefer to stay in Italy, but among the English clubs Arsenal is the first choice of the boy for the way he plays the team coached by (Arsene) Wenger.”
Zamparini have clearly stated his huge demands as regards a transfer fee for the player. However, it would be interesting to see if Arsenal will meet the £30m price tag demanded for the youngster.
Dybala has been in good form for Palermo this season, finding the back of the net 12 times in 27 outings in Serie A and assisting a further 7 times.
Arsenal are still relatively light up front with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck the only recognisable centre forwards but the arrival of Dybala would see the departure of the likes of Lukas Podolski or Joel Campbell, who have struggled to nail down a first team place this season.
