Arsenal have made an approach to sign Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac, according to reports in Germany.
The full back is in the final months of his contract at Schalke and FIFA rules have given him the power to enter into negotiations with clubs interested in his services.
The 23 year old is one of Europe’s most talented defender and has been a key player for the Bundesliga outfit since joining them in 2012.
Kolasinac was the subject of interest from Chelsea in the January transfer window but his club blocked him from joining Antonio Conte’s men.
He’s still attracting interest from Europe’s big boys and according to German publication Bild via The Daiy Star, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have offered the defender a contract.
Interest in the defender is not only from the Premier League as Italian trio, Juventus, Roma and AC Milan have all tabled terms.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen its left back position this summer and the futures of both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs are in doubt.
It is believed Wenger has earmarked Kieran Tierney as a potential arrival but Kolasinac could prove a shrewd signing especially if both Gibbs and Monreal are leaving.
Kolasinac has made close to a century of appearances for Schalke in his five years at the club and has definitely garnered enough experience to play for a top team like ours, getting him as a free agent could be a bargain deal if he happens to fulfil his potential but first we’ll have to beat a host of top clubs to his signature.
