Arsenal have made a bid for Santos youngster Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports.

Barbosa who is fondly called Gabigol in Brazil is one of the brightest prospects in the South American country.

Wenger who is keen on snapping the best talents within and outside England has been keeping tabs on the forward for sometime and has now made an official offer.

According to ESPN Brazil via the Daily Express, Arsenal have approached the player’s representative over a summer move to the Emirates.

The report added that the player also has offers from China and Fiorentina but he is particularly excited by the Gunners offer.

Barbosa, 19, officially has a release clause of €50m but according to a report in Sports Witness, European club’s could sign the player for as low as €18m.

The report claims Arsenal are paying the €18m release clause, thereby rendering Santos powerless in its attempt to keep the forward.

It is believed the decision now rest on the player who recently claimed he is very happy at Santos and would leave any decision on his future to his parents and his agent.

“Yes, I have proposals that please me from big European clubs, but that’s with my parents and my agents,” he said.

“But I’m happy at Santos. This will be resolved soon. Santos is my home, my place, but let’s take it easy and then decide.”
