Manchester City are not giving up on signing Alexis Sanchez just yet, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola wants to sign another forward this summer and has set his sights on Sanchez but Arsenal have no intention of selling the Chilean.

Wenger has publicly warned he would rather lose the forward for nothing next year than sell him this summer but City are prepared to wait on Sanchez and make a bid for him if the opportunity arises.

According to the Daily Star via the Express, City believe Sanchez wants a move to the Etihad and are prepared to wait for him until the end of the transfer window.

Guardiola is hoping Arsenal would decide to sell Sanchez before the transfer window closes later this month if the forward continues to stall on a new deal.

They are also prepared to wait for the striker until January, when they will begin pre-contract talks with him if he still hasn’t signed a new deal by then.

Wenger, though, remains adamant that Sanchez will remain at the club next season. Before the game against Chelsea, he reiterated his desire to keep the Chilean and also confirmed the club’s backing.

“The board back me 100 per cent to make the decisions on the technical

front,” Wenger said about Sanchez’s future.

“That means which players stay or go.”

Allowing Sanchez run down the lenght of his contract mean we risk losing him for nothing when we can still make as much as £45m from his sale now.

While I wouldn’t like to sell Sanchez this summer, losing him for nothing next year would hit the club hard, especially as it will cost us a club record transfer fee to adequately replace him.
