Arsene Wenger has stepped up his efforts to sign Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe by reaching out to the player personally.
Wenger is a big admirer of the striker who he has closely monitored in the last three years and Arsenal are said to be willing to spend a world record transfer fee to sign him this summer.
However, we are not the only ones interested in the forward, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool all keen on his services. Reports in France are claiming the striker’s preference is to join Real but Wenger wouldn’t let that happen without a fight.
With Mbappe undecided on what to do amid the numerous interest he is attracting, L’Equipe claims Wenger recently talked directly with the striker on phone to offer him career advice.
Amongst the topics reportedly discussed was the possibility of the striker moving to the Emirates this summer.
Monaco themselves do not want to sell the striker and have offered him a new deal, which he may well accept but the prospect of playing for a big European club would be too tempting for the teenager to turn down.
Should he decide to leave the principality club, the Emirates would obviously be a better destination for him because we can offer him more playing time than Madrid or PSG would be able to.
With the future of Alexis Sanchez currently in doubt, Mbappe could immediately become our main man if the Chilean leaves, an opportunity he will not get at Madrid or PSG.
