Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Just like last winter’s signing Gabriel Paulista, Arsenal are hoping to announce the signing of another January signing – FC Basel midfielder Mohammed Elneny in the next few days, according to report.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed a fee of £7.4m for the Egyptian international and it has been claimed that the 23 year old has passed a medical already; with issues of his paper works already sorted out by Arsenal.
And the Metro claims the Gunners are confident of announcing the deal before they face Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Gunners will have to announce the midfielder’s signing before lunchtime on friday for him to have any chance to feature against Sunderland and the Gunners are already close to completing the deal, as per Sky Sports.
Elneny will provide cover for injured Francis Coquelin and should he perform well, the 23 year old will provide healthy competition for the French defensive midfielder.
It is believed the Egyptian star will make a decent January signing and will quickly impact at Arsenal as Gabriel Paulista has been since joining last January from Sevilla; despite not yet being regular starter for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Elneny made 91 appearances for Basel scoring 5 goals since joining the swiss club in 2013
