Arsene Wenger has been accused of being frugal with the transfer funds of Arsenal. Despite claims that the Gunners had a whopping £200m transfer war-chest in the summer, they ended up making profits after the sale of some players and spending only on Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal could lose a chunk of their key players in January, and this will leave them with no choice than to sign their replacements. According to reports, Arsenal are willing to make another offer for their long term transfer target Thomas Lemar.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Lemar in the summer. The Gunners made two bids for the star, which were rebuffed but on the transfer deadline day, Arsenal were willing to pay as much as £90million for the star who was tipped to replace Alexis Sanchez. However, the deal failed to materialised.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have refused to extend their contract and they are expected to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window. Ozil is linked with a move to Barcelona and Manchester United while Alexis Sanchez is heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
If the aforementioned players are sold in January, Arsenal would have recouped some funds from their sale. According to the Sun, Arsenal will make another offers for Lemar and the bid will certainly be below what they offered in January.
Thomas Lemar is just one out of the possible two players Arsenal will sign in January. Lemar was also on the radar of Liverpool last summer but there is no telling of the Reds will attempt to sign him again.
