Arsenal have joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, according to the Express.
The winger has been attracting interests from Europe’s top clubs since his days at Monaco. He has continued to improve at Atletico and has become a key player for the Spanish club in recent seasons but reports in Spain recently claimed the winger has a strained relationship with Diego Simeone and he now wants to leave the Vincente Calderon.
Manchester United are believed to be leading the race to sign the Belgian but the report claims they could face competition from Chelsea as well as Arsenal.
Atletico may decide to sell Carrasco in the summer as Simeone prepares to strengthen his squad after a below-par season and they are expected to demand a fee in the region of £40m for his services.
Wenger has been linked with a host of wingers recently and it could well be that we are already eyeing quality attacking reinforcements like Carrasco after falling out of the title race this season again.
We currently sit 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea and we have been made to understand that if we really want to challenge for titles, we need to bring in some more quality.
Carrasco has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season and at 23, he still has his best days ahead of him and will be a quality addition to our squad.
