Arsenal have signed former Chelsea youngster Zach Medley after a successful trial, via RedLondon.com.

Medley was a member of Chelsea’s academy since when he was eight until october and he is now set to begin another phase of his development here at Arsenal.

The youngster who likes to play as a defender was first handed a trial by Arsenal and has now signed a scholarship deal after impressing the club’s scout.

Although he didn’t impress in the first game of his trial period, conceding a penalty in our 1-1 draw with Fulham’s U18 but he subsequently did enough to convince the club to hand him a place in our U18 squad.

The former Chelsea man will now team up with other talented youngsters in our academy for the second half of the campaign.

He is Arsenal’s 12th Scholarship intake this season.

I do not know the player’s reasons for leaving Chelsea but for whatever it is i am only concerned about him making it here at the Emirates now that he has joined us.

Hopefully, he will be able to follow the path of Hector Bellerin who also joined us as a teenager and is now a key part of our first team.

Medley has played four times for England’s U16 already and definitely looks like one with a big future ahead of him. All the best to the lad.
