Its yet more good news for the Gunners on the transfer front following the confirmation of another contract extension.
Jack Wilshere and Joel Campbell have been reported to be in negotiations about new deals but it is however in the Ladies team that an agreement has been reached.
Arsenal Ladies centre back Vyan Sampson has signed a new long term contract with the Gunners. The youngster when speaking to the media, confirmed her joy regarding the extension “Happy to have signed my new contract with club! Hopefully this team can go on to do big things!” Sampson who joined Arsenal from Chalton Atletic is a product of the Arsenal Ladies Centre of Excellence programme, the quick centre-back made her first-team debut against Everton in the final game of the Women’s Super League in 2014 and helped the Gunners to a comfortable 3-1 win.
The Nineteen-year-old Vyan already boasts an impressive trophy cabinet having already won the reserve league cup, the national cup, the under-17 league cup and WSL Continental Cup in 2015. The defender has also represented England at under-17s and under-19s level.
The deal leaves the Ladies team in a strong position with four centre halves. Let’s hope the club assign Vyan a squad number quickly having lost her Jersey #4 to new signing Fara Williams. Everyone at Arsenal is looking forward to seeing her at the centre of the defense in the forthcoming season.
