Olivier Giroud has dropped a huge hint that he is close to signing a new deal at Arsenal.

Giroud has been a regular at Arsenal since he joined in 2012 but has been made to feature from the bench this season. The striker’s first Premier League game this season was this year’s Boxing day fixture against West Brom and prior to that he has come off the bench on 10 occasions.

A combination of injuries and the superb form of Alexis Sanchez limited the French man to the bench and as usual, reports linking him with an exit  from the Emirates started gaining momentum.

In a bid to end any doubt about the striker’s future, the Gunners opened talks to extend the player’s contract and reports emerged last week that he is close to signing a new deal.

He has now dropped a huge hint that he is in talks to extend his contract at Arsenal but nothing is official yet.

“I came back a bit late from the Euros and it was nice for my body because I could rest but not good for me because the team was doing well and another striker was doing well up front,” he told Sky Sports News, as quoted by Sports Mole.

“This season has been difficult because also I was injured for a month and a half so it hasn’t been easy. I don’t want to talk too much about me but it was a big day for me, but a turning point for the team because if we didn’t win we would have been in trouble.

“But football is an everlasting new beginning, as I used to say, and you always have to keep focused and wait for your time. People have been saying I have signed a new contract – it is not true but maybe soon.”

Giroud has scored four league goals for Arsenal this season, with the previous three coming as a substitute. Hopefully, he will continue to play a key role in our title challenge this season.
