Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara has joined his former side Southend United until the end of the season, as per Echo news. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder joined the Gunners in 2012, where he progressed through the Arsenal Academy before making his debut in the embarrassing league cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in October 2015.
Despite the injuries suffered by the Gunners in midfield, the Finnish international has found first first team action difficult to come by with the League Cup outing representing his only senior appearance thus far. The player has thus secured the loan move to aid his development as a player with valuable first team experience.
Both sides are very happy with the deal. Blues boss Phil Brown spoke of his delight to be bringing Kamara back to Roots Hall.
“We have been chasing Glen for about six weeks now and I’m very pleased to have got the deal done,” said Brown.
“It stopped for a little while when Ben Coker got injured and we had to concentrate on bringing in a left-back.
“But the opportunity presented itself yesterday to get the deal done and, just like the others players we have brought in, I think it will help us improve significantly.”
