One of Arsenal’s best signings in The Emirates era, Santi Cazorla, will finally be calling it quits at Arsenal after five great years at the club. Santi Cazorla has been battling with injuries which has meant that he’s not played for the club since 2016.
The Spaniard will be leaving the club after both parties agreed not to extend Santi’s contract, but it seems Cazorla still wants to continue playing.
Reports had earlier suggested that he might be retiring at the end of his contract next month which is 9 days away but that look unlikely as he’s going to continue to play, however not in Premier League:
The 32 year old had several bouts of surgery that almost led to his leg being amputated but he battled through it and he’s now recovering and was back in training. He was listed in Arsenal’s Europa League players for the knock out stages with the hope of him returning for a fairy tale comeback in the final which we sadly failed to reach.
Arsenal’s CEO, Ivan Gazidis had some great words for Cazorla and said:
Cazorla has been an amazing signing by Arsene Wenger, probably best remembered for his amazing free kick in the FA Cup Final against Hull in 2013. If you don’t get a football shiver watching this, you’re dead inside (or a Spurs fan):
