Roberto Martinez will be without the suspended Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas for the visit of Arsenal to Goodison Park, while Bryan Oviedo is a serious doubt due to illness, having lost a lot of weight over the past week or so.

Leighton Baines could start at left-back then, alongside Phil Jagielka, Ramiro Funes Mori and Seamus Coleman in defence. John Stones may have to settle for a place on the bench once more. Muhamed Besic looks the obvious replacement for Barry next to James McCarthy at the base of midfield in Martinez’ usual 4-2-3-1 formation, with Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley and Tom Cleverley the likely starters in the advanced midfield positions.

The likes of Gerard Deulofeu, Arouna Kone and Leon Osman provide alternative options. Romelu Lukaku will lead the line for the Toffees, with Oumar Niasse providing back-up. Steven Pienaar and Darron Gibson are both doubtful with knocks.
