Alexis Sanchez’s agent is reportedly in Germany to hold talks with Bayern about a potential transfer to take his client to the Allianz Arena this summer.
Sanchez’s future has been up in the air for quite sometime, following his refusal to sign a contract extension. Talks between Arsenal and the Chilean representative are expected to resume in the summer but it appears the striker’s entourage is pushing for a move away from the Emirates.
According to South America newspaper, El Mercurio, the striker looks likely to leave Arsenal this summer with a move to Bayern well on the cards.
The German giants are prepared to pay up to £50m in transfer fees and £10m a season in wages.
The report claims Arsenal are prepared to do business with Bayern rather than losing the striker to a rival club or for nothing next season. While there is little sense in that, it is expected that we will do everything possible to keep him here before considering a sale.
The Chilean wants to keep playing Champions League football and he knows he won’t get that here at the Emirates after we finished outside the top four for the first time in 21 years.
His exit will be a big blow to us as he was crucial to our achievements this season and will be important in the future if he stays. However the chances of him staying reduces by the day but we can only hope he opts to stay rather than leave.
Even though his agent may want a transfer, the decision is solely Sanchez’s to make and I hope he chooses to stay.
