Arsene Wenger is set to renew his interest in long-time target M’Baye Niang, according to reports.

Niang is a familiar name to Arsenal fans as we were heavily linked with a January move for the French forward.

That wasn’t the first time his name cropped up in Arsenal’s rumor mill, we first tried to sign him five years ago when he was at Caen but he opted to join AC Milan.

Wenger was also said to be preparing a move for him last winter but he somehow joined Watford on loan until the end of the season.

With the forward not in Milan’s future plans, he is being tipped to leave the San Siro permanently this summer and again Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs that could sign him.

Everton are another club who are interested in the wide forward, with reports in Italy last week suggesting the Toffees were closing in on a deal but Transfermarketweb via The Daily Star now claim Arsenal are set to rival Koeman’s men for the forward’s signature.

The report says Arsenal recently made enquiries about the forward and he has been added to Wenger’s summer shortlist.

Niang, 22, has always been tipped to have a great career but his development has stalled since joining Milan and it doesn’t look like he will live up to the hype of his early days.

His loan spell at Watford wasn’t all that convincing and it is surprising that we are looking to sign him.

Although the right summer move could just help him get his career back on track, we’ll have to wait a little to ascertain the credibility of Arsenal’s interest in his services but I do not expect it to gather so much momentum in the next few weeks.

Gooners, do you think Wenger should sign him or should the boss look for other proven targets.
