According to Argentine media reports, Premier League giants Arsenal have held discussions with Boca Juniors midfielder Cristan Pavon about a switch to the Emirates.

The Daily Mirror is citing reports emanating from Argentina that claim Arsenal have made an approach to land the Boca star ahead of the Mundial in Russia.

The same report claims that newly appointed Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants to strengthen his midfield options and the potential Argentine World cup star could be a possible candidate to strengthen the Gunners squad.

Discussion held with Premier League duo
As per the same report, Pavon’s agents have held talks with the Gunners and their City rivals Chelsea ahead of a possible transfer.

The 22-year-old netted six goals and provided 11 assists in 26 matches for Boca Juniors in their local league in 2018.

The diminutive 5ft 6ins midfielder has represented the Argentina National team five times ahead of the FIFA World World Cup in Russia later this month.

Arsenal brought in Switzerland skipper Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free from Italian Serie A side Juventus a week ago to secure their first signing of the Unai Emery era.

The Spaniard tactician took over the charge from Frenchman Arsene Wenger in May after the former Monaco manager boss stood down as head coach.
