Paris Saint Germain boss Laurent Blanc has backed Arsenal target Edinson Cavani to rake in more than 30 goals this season.
The Uruguayan international has often been deployed on the left wing as Blanc prefers Zlatan Ibrahimovich in the number nine role, yet still managed to score 31 goals in all competition last season.
Cavani has once again hit a sublime form that has seen him score eight goals in ten games in the opening games of the new season, and Blanc expects the 28-year-old star striker to add plenty more over the course season.
“Cavani is the type of striker who nets 30 goals a season” Blanc said at a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Shakhtar Donetsk.
“And he is once more well underway to hit that mark this season.”
“We are fortunate to have two attackers who score a lot of goals with Cavani and Ibrahimovich”
Arsenal where heavily linked with a summer transfer deadline day move for both Zlatan and Cavani but failed to secure the signature of neither.
However, reports making the rounds suggest Arsenal still retain hopes of landing Cavani in January; but the Gunners would need to smash their transfer record by a wide margin if they are to get their man.
