Reports are claiming that Manchester City are interested in signing Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain next month.

The Gunners star will enter into the final 18 months of his Arsenal contract in January and his long term future at Arsenal isn’t clear yet.

In recent weeks, there have been different reports about his future. At first Wenger claimed the club is in talks with the player about extending his deal but a research by the Mirror revealed the player hasn’t even been contacted by the club. Wenger followed up by claiming he wants the midfielder to stay at the Emirates beyond his current contract.

And now The Sun via the Daily Star suggests Manchester City are looking to take advantage of the uncertainty.

According to the report, Guardiola is a big fan of the winger who he believes has the quality to become a top centre midfielder and will now lodge a £25m bid for his services in the new year.

Guardiola stepped up his interest in Chamberlain after losing Gundogan to a knee injury which will rule the German out of action for a long time.

The report further claimed Wenger is unhappy with Guardiola’s approach and has warned the Spaniard that the midfielder is not for sale at any price.

With Arsenal reportedly yet to open talks with Chamberlain over a new contract, it remains to be seen whether the 23 year old will be tempted to push for a move to the Etihad.

Guardiola will offer the England international a huge pay cheque to complete a move across to our rivals and it will be interesting to find out if he will be tempted or reject City’s advances just as Bellerin did.

Chamberlain has made 15 league appearances for Arsenal this season and has scored two goals.
