Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is understood to be a top target for La Liga and World champions Barcelona in the summer. The Catalans giants have been monitoring the midfielder’s progress at the Emirates for some time and the Express via the Metro reports that Barcelona scouts were again present at Anfield to witness the Welshman’s goal scoring performance against Liverpool.
The departure of midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez to Qatar last summer left a gapping hole in the Barcelona midfield. The club were immediately unable to sign a replacement due to the transfer ban imposed on them.
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has been largely impressed by Ramsey’s displays and is confident the Arsenal man can be convinced to leave North London for the La Liga much like his international teammate-Gareth Bale.
The surprising aspect of the news is that Arsene Wenger is yet to learn from past mistakes. The report also claims that the Arsenal manager is willing to sell the quality midfielder as he does not want to stand in his way to join a top club.
But the Gunners will only let him leave if Barcelona stump up a sum in the region of £50 to £60million, which Barcelona understandably have no issues meeting.
The Catalans would have the opportunity to assess him first hand when both sides meet in their Champions league clash next month.
