Arsenal are confident they will get Alexis Sanchez to sign a new deal despite talks with the player dragging longer than expected.

Sanchez has been in contract talks with Arsenal since August and last week, it was reported that discussions had stalled due to his demands.

It was claimed the player recently rejected a contract offer worth £180,000 a week, holding out for at least a £250,000 a week deal. Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to meet his demand and this has subsequently plunged his long term future into doubt.

But according to Tribalfootball, a source close to Arsenal has revealed that the club is confident the striker will extend his stay at the Emirates.

“He is paying hard-ball in the talks,” said a source close to Sanchez. “But there is a good chance he will stay at Arsenal .”

Just last week, Arsenal secretary David Miles revealed that talks with the player is going as planned and expressed optimism that he will put pen to paper on a new deal. This report further reveals that there is no panic within the club about losing the Chilean.

However, the belief is different within the fan base as many Gooners are already scared of losing the forward at the end of the season if he doesn’t sign a new contract but the club appears to be confident it won’t get to that stage.

Sanchez has scored more goals than any other Arsenal player this season playing a key role in our performances and it is understandable why the fans are a bit worried.

Although there is no player bigger than a club but Sanchez has established himself as a very important part of our squad and losing him will be a huge blow for us. Hence, it is imperative we keep him here no matter the cost.
