Olympique Marseille are weighing up a move for Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports.
Debuchy has featured just once for Arsenal this season, which was against Bournemouth last weekend and couldn’t complete the game as he sustained an injury after just 16 minutes.
The defender’s Arsenal career has been jeopardized by series of injuries and he has fallen behind Hector Bellerin and Carl Jenkinson in Wenger’s pecking order.
It has been the story ever since the defender joined us in 2014, sustaining one injury after the other and even when he was sent to Bordeaux on loan last season, he returned with an injury.
But Marseille are considering offering the defender a fresh start, according to France Football via the Daily Express.
The report claims Marseille boss Rudi Garcia wants to add experience to his youthful squad and sees Debuchy as a quality option.
Wenger would likely accept a relatively cheap bid for the defender considering his position in the squad. It has been suggested that a fee in the region of £5m would be enough to sign the defender.
Although we signed him for almost double that amount from Newcastle, I think it will be a good deal for us if we are able to get £5m for him.
Debuchy’s exit will also give a youngster the opportunity to deputise for Bellerin and Jenkinson in the first team.
