Arsenal star Olivier Giroud says he is confident he would work his way back into Arsene Wenger’s starting xi.

The French striker has found it difficult this season, having suffered a toe injury which kept him out of action for more than four weeks. On his return from injury, Alexis Sanchez had already claimed the centre forward position but Giroud has now revealed he isn’t giving up and is determined to force his way back into the first team.

The striker wasn’t helped by France’s run to the final of the Euro 2016 championships, meaning he was given an extended break in the summer. His late return coupled with the injury he sustained gave Sanchez all the opportunity to impress in the centre forward position and the Chilean made no mistake in doing that.

However, Giroud recently showed his quality when he came off the bench to help us secure a 4-1 win over Sunderland, while he is happy to make an impact off the bench, he is confident he can play a bigger role for the club later in the season.

“My turn will come,” he said about his chances of breaking into Wenger’s starting xi.

“I came back late from the Euros and was not fit enough to play straight away, then, unfortunately, I had an annoying injury.

“Obviously I prefer to be on the pitch but I needed to take my time. My injury is now behind me and I want to look forward now and qualify for the next stage of the Champions League. I am pleased to be back.

Giroud has been a key player for us since he joined us in 2012, although he has divided fans opinion in equal measures, I think he has been more beneficial to us all these years and can still be important to us this season.

The striker has shown he has strong mentality and he would be banking on that mentality to help him win back his place in the starting xi.
