Former Chelsea Manager, Carlo Ancelotti has rejected an offer to become the coach of Italian national team from the Italian football Federation.
According to the coach’s agent, Ancelllotti rejected a phone call from the federation as he hopes to become the Gunners coach as soon as Arsene Wenger leaves the club next season.
Arsene Wenger signed a two year contract with the Gunners at the end of last season but speculations are rife that he is most likely going to leave at the end of this season.
He admitted that rejecting the Italians calls were hard decision as the country desperately needs a new coach who will immediately commence a rebuilding process after the country failed to qualify for the World Cup that will be hosted by Russia in 2018.
Italy failed to qualify for the first time in 60 years after losing by 1-0 on aggregate to Sweden.
Carlo Ancelotti is an experienced coach who has coached in different leagues such as Spanish LaLigawith Real Madrid; English Premier league with Chelsea; and the German league with Bayern Munich.
He was sacked by Bayern Munich despite winning the Bundesliga title and reaching the quarter final stage of the UEFAChampions league last season.
It is yet to be seen if snubbing Italy job for Arsenal is a great decision by Ancelotti as it’s not sure whether Arsenal will part ways with their current manager, Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal currently occupy the 3rd position in the league standings after defeating Tottenham by two goals to nil on Saturday.
Ancelotti is currently having a break with his family in his homeland in Italy.
