Arsenal are set to reignite their interest in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez and they are ready to buy him as soon as the January transfer market opens.
According to Algerian outlet Le Bute urban, Arsene Wenger is ready to spend huge cash on the Algerian player whom he sees as Alexis Sanchez replacement.
Despite confirming that Alexis Sanchez will remain at the Emirates stadium, Arsene Wenger is still searching for a capable replacement for the Chilean striker, and he believes Mahrez might turn out to be a good addition to Gunners’ front line.
The Gunners are reportedly the favourite club ahead of other interested clubs including Roma who made an official approach to the player’s representative in the summer.
Mahrez was approached by Arsene Wenger in the summer, but Leicester were not ready to let go of their most influential winger. It is believed that Arsenal could tempt Leicester with a huge-money offer in January.
Roma are also set to reignite their interest in the 26-year-old winger. They saw their three transfer bids rejected by the Foxes as their bids couldn’t meet up with the price tag placed on the player by the 2015-16 Premier League Champions.
Mahrez, 26, seems to have rediscovered his fine form after a series of poor performances. He has scored in three consecutive matches for Paul Guel’s team.
Leicester remain in the eighth position in the Premier League despite losing 1-2 against Watford on Tuesday.
He is valued at £45million by Leicester City.
