Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was unimpressed by Granit Xhaka’s display against Burnley on Sunday.

The summer signing from Borussia Monchengladbach was red carded mid way into the second half for a reckless tackle on Steven Defour after losing the ball on the middle of the park.

Having been reduced to ten men, we were made to work hard for the final 25 minutes of the game and it was a 98th minute winner from Alexis Sanchez that got us all three points after Andy Gray pulled Bunley level on the 93rd minute.

The dismissal means Xhaka will miss the next four games having been sent off already this season and Henry is unhappy with the midfielder’s decision making when tackling.

The Gunners all time goalscorer believes the big money summer arrival ought to be doing better.

“It’s not the first time. He did the same thing against Swansea,” Henry told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Express.

“This one I just don’t get it. Against Swansea it was a counter. Here, he gives the ball cheaply away.

“Why are you doing that 60 yards away from your goal, 25 minutes to go, you’re in control of the game? You misplace a pass. So what? Stay on your feet.

“As soon as you do that, the rules say it’s a red. Is it worse than [Marcos] Rojo who didn’t get a red? No. But the rule says both feet off the ground, it’s a red.”

Henry isn’t the only one fuming with Xhaka, as everyone who watched the game on Sunday was baffled and angered by the midfielder’s decision to go in two footed on Defour at the centre of the pitch.

His discipline has been questioned on several occasions this season and I think it’s high time he improved on that aspect of his game.

When he was making the switch from Monchengladbach, there was much talk about his leadership qualities on and off the pitch and I must say he hasn’t shown any quality that makes him a leader on the pitch.

Although I would give him some slack by saying he is still adapting to the style and speed of the EPL but he must remember that he is running out of time and must improve.
