Spanish midfield maestro, Santi Cazorla has been lauded by his manager for the manner he has continued his rehabilitation from the long-term injury.

The 32 year old could have returned on time this season. However, he suffered a setback which has rendered him unavailable for all Arsenal’s 2017/2018 matches to this point. It has been a terrible 2017 for the Spain international who hasn’t kicked a ball this year. Last October marked his one year absence from the football pitch.

The Gunners midfielder has undergone surgery eight different times. However, his injury is yet to heal and is recovery is getting longer with every passing day.

The French manager has praised Cazorla for his bravery and courage during his tough injury-laden year.

“I have been in touch with Santi throughout his rehab, and it has been extremely tough and testing for him,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.

“If there is one guy who loves football passionately, loves to be on the pitch, and comes in with a smile every day when he is fit, it’s Santi Cazorla, so you know he suffers a lot not to be out there with the ball at his feet.

“He is extremely strong and brave, and behind his smile is a strength you would not guess. He is a very strong character, and everyone at Arsenal wishes him well and we hope to have him back soon.”

The former Malaga player could play a part in the club’s chase for a top four finish this season as a title challenge is looking very unlikely with the gap between the North London side and table toppers Manchester City.

The Gunners coach, Arsene Wenger will hope he could have his versatile midfielder back in the fold to improve his side’s success this term.

Cazorla himself would hope to be back soon as he wouldn’t want to miss the World Cup in Russia next year.
