Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are back in line to sign long term transfer target, Benedikt Howedes from Schalke 04 in the summer, according to reports.
The Gunners have been linked to the 27 year-old for a very long time but are reportedly ready to reignite their interest by moving for the experienced German defender in the summer as he nears the end of his contract with Schalke which will expire at the end of next season.
Howedes, according to the Daily Telegraph has a release clause of just £9 Million and he could leave for lesser that figure considering he would be in his final season with Schalke in the summer. This is a huge bargain that Arsenal would want to take advantage of.
The 27-year-old is a versatile player as he can play in the central defensive position or as a right back; which makes him a good value for money and a much needed addition to the Gunners squad, judging from the fact that Mathieu Debuchy may leave in the January transfer and not come back; so he would be a good replacement and a good competition for the Gunners centre halves and to Hector Bellarin at right back.
