Reports in Turkey are claiming that Olivier Giroud is keen on joining Besiktas this summer.

The French striker is being linked with a move away from the Emirates as Wenger ramps up his effort to sign a world class striker.

Wenger is keen on reinforcing the attack and sees a centre forward as a priority. The arrival of a world class striker could have a negative impact on Giroud’s place in the team and the French man who lost his place in the starting xi to Alexis Sanchez last year doesn’t want to spend another season on the bench.

Haberturk reporter Kartal Yigit claims Besiktas have now made an approach to sign Giroud and the striker is open to joining the Turkish giants.

The report claims Besiktas have held initial talks and were given encouragements by the player’s camp.

The report quoted Giroud as saying:

‘I would join’ the Turkish champions.’

Wenger recently revealed that he would love Giroud to remain at the Emirates, insisting he can still play a key role for us next season. However, the reality is, it will be difficult to convince him to stay if we sign a striker, especially as next season precedes a World Cup competition.

Should Besiktas step up their interest, it would be difficult for Giroud to turn down their advances especially as they can offer him Champions League football next term and regular playing time, which is what every player dreams of.
