Jack Wilshere will turn down a move from West Ham to fight for his future at Arsenal.
The England international has been put up for sale by Wenger because of his inability to stay fit. He’s struggled with injuries over the years and with just one year left in the contract, Arsenal believe this is the best time to get the midfielder off its books.
West Ham and a host of other clubs both within and outside the country were immediately linked with the midfielder. It was claimed that the Hammers were his preferred destination because of its close proximity but the Telegraph are now reporting that Wilshere would actually prefer to stay at Arsenal.
They claim the deep-lying playmaker is working hard in training to boost his fitness ahead of the upcoming campaign
Should he manage to impress Wenger, he could save the club from spending big on another midfielder.
However, it has always been like this with Wilshere over the years. Prior to the start of the last season, Gooners were hoping he would finally get his injury struggles behind him at Bournemouth but his spell at the south coast was cut short by a leg injury which has kept him out of action until now.
Ideally, I would want to see Wilshere remain at Arsenal for many more years but there is no guarantee he will stay fit for majority of the upcoming campaign.
