Lucas Perez is closer to leaving Arsenal after his agent landed in London to hold talks with the club, according to the Mirror.

Perez completed a £17m move to Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna last August but had a difficult debut season in the Premier League. He is now expected to leave the Emirates after being left out of the clubs preseason tour earlier this month.

He’s been linked with a host of Spanish clubs amongst whom are his former club Deportivo and Real Betis but it is the former who are leading the race for his signature.

According to reports, Deportivo recently tabled a £9m bid for Perez but they are yet to get a response from Arsenal. In a bid to facilitate a move, Perez agent has flew into London for talks with the Gunners.

The striker’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez is unhappy with the slow pace of his clients transfer and has already admitted that the delay is a source of frustration.

“I’m waiting for Arsenal to come back to me,” Fernandez told Spanish newspaper Voz de Galicia . “But the best offer they have on the table for Lucas is from Deportivo.

“At Arsenal they know he’s going to play very little there and they know that Deportivo want him.

“It would be good for everyone to sell Lucas Perez. We have to convince them.”

Perez is currently without a squad number after the No. 9 jersey he wore last year was handed over to new signing Alexandre Lacazette, meaning the club actually wants to sell him.

Arsenal may be taking time to consider Deportivo’s offer as Wenger is determined to recoup most of the money spent on the Spaniard last summer but the current bid is a low-ball offer and we will want to be careful not to turn this down and then don’t get something better before the end of the transfer window.
