Arsenal appear to be looking in all directions for signings this summer with the latest coming from the English Championship.
Sunderland youngster Joel Asoro dubbed the “next Frederick Ljunberg” has confirmed reports that Arsenal are interested in signing him, according to the Express.
Asked about the links to Arsenal, Asoro said:
“People were a little shocked because I have played very little first-team football.
“I’ve heard a little bit, but if I think about it too much, it becomes ‘what if, what if.’ I try not to think about it too much.
“It came as a shock. It is clear clubs contact each other and stuff, but it’s my agent in charge of it. I try to focus on my football.”
Asoro, 18, is primarily an attacking midfielder who can function anywhere behind a striker, and can also operate as the main striker as he appears to have the skill-set of a clinical finisher.
The young Swedish star is certainly one Wenger would be buying for the future as he won’t be expected to break in directly into the first team at Arsenal at the moment.
