One club down! Arsenal fans have been handed a huge boost in their hopes of keeping Chilean star Alexis Sanchez as Bayern Munich have withdrawn from the race to sign the Gunners forward due to the player’s excessive wage demands, according to reports.

Sanchez has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates in recent weeks, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City claimed to be in a neck-to-neck race to sign the Chilean.

However, recent reports from Germany are claiming the Bundesliga champions would drop their interest in Sanchez due to his weekly wage demands.

Arsenal still hope to convince sanchez to sign a new deal when talks resume in the summer and are reluctant to let him leave without a fight.

According to Bild, Sanchez wage demands have caused Bayern Munich to end their pursuit of the midfielder.

The striker is looking to double his £140,000 a week salary and Bayern don’t have such funds to meet the player’s demands. This has reportedly paved the way for Manchester City.

Guardiola is desperate to lure Sanchez to the Etihad but he knows Wenger will not sell to a direct rival which means the 28-year old is more likely to remain at the Emirates for a least another season if he and Arsenal do not reach an agreement on a contract extension this summer.

Bayern are only prepared to pay the striker £230,000 weekly and were hoping he’d take a pay cut to reunite with his friend Aturo Vidal at the Alianz Arena but that appears not to be the case.

Losing Sanchez to a rival like City will be suicidal to our chances of winning the league title next season. We will find it difficult to replace Sanchez and the Chilean joining a rival club will be the worst thing that could happen to us this summer
