Reports from Football.London claims Arsenal have been handed massive boost in the race for Schalke’s Max Meyer following the news that Barcelona are no longer interested in the player.

The German international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirate Stadium with report suggesting he close to agreeing a deal in January.

Barcelona were said to be keen on signing the German international on a free transfer, yet Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that the La Liga giants have now pulled out of the race for the player’s signature.

Meyer has already rejected a number of contract offers from Schalke, including a fresh proposal that his agent turned down last month.

This new has put Arsenal on pole position but will stil have to battle it out with Liverpool as they have been linked in signing the German star.
