Rabiot could become an Arsenal player in January
As the January transfer window draws closer, the picture becomes clearer on the situation with Adrien Rabiot, his status with PSG and his avalilability for Arsenal. The latest reports now say that he has given PSG a take-or-leave-it chance to keep him, by demanding that any fresh deal to keep him at the Club will not be worth less than £80,000-a-week.
You may recall that PSG’s new contract offer of £50,000 a week was met with a no-show from Rabiot and his representatives. He certainly feels he deserves more from the club and so has refused to settle for the initial offer. This has since seen him relegated to training with the reserves, with PSG boss Laurent Blanc branding it “a shame” that he had refused the offer.
It now means that Arsenal, Liverpool and Roma, who have all been monitoring the situation and waiting to pounce, now have a clearer idea of what they have to prepare during their bids and enquiries for Rabiot’s services. PSG would rather the young midfielder signed the contract as he is surely one of the stars of the future. However, they appear to be resigned to the fact that they have to get the most they can in January rather than lose him for nothing in the summer. A fee in the region of £7 million is the supposed starting price.
Rabiot had been the subject of intense speculation during the active period of the summer transfer window, with Arsenal seen as very interested. The 19-year old France U-21 International possesses loads of those qualities which are easily used to classify the great potential in a young talent. Wenger may be in line to get the lad who has drawn various similarities with one of his greatest purchases, Patrick Viera.
We can only keep our fingers crossed and keep flipping the calendar to see if we can draw January a little closer.
