Midfielder Tells Wenger To Do Everything To Keep Alexis Sanchez At Arsenal

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has urged Arsene Wenger to keep Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal at all cost.

Sanchez has been in talks with Arsenal over a new deal since May but is yet to reach an agreement with the club. It is claimed the forward is demanding a mammoth salary of about £200,000 a week and also the inclusion of a release clause in the new contract.

While Arsenal are prepared to meet the player’s wage demands, they are reluctant to include a release clause in his contract.

Manchester City and Juventus are looking to take advantage of the situation but Redknapp has warned Arsenal not to let the forward leave the Emirates.

The former Liverpool man believes Arsenal will be unable to attract top players should the Chile international leave.

He also believes keeping Sanchez at the club will help attract more top players in the future while failure to keep him at the club could see the club lose some of its stars.

He said: “He chipped in with two goals, taking his tally to three for the season, and it’s imperative that Arsenal can convince him to sign a new deal before his current contract runs out in 2018.

“It’s not just about how much he brings to the team; tying him down would be a statement of intent and help the club to add more world-class talent.

“They’ll find it very difficult to do so if they start losing their best players again, as occurred when Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri and Alex Song all left in the space of two seasons.”

Arsenal fans will not want to see the forward leave the Emirates as the club have only started to keep its best players after years of losing players to rival clubs, it was a very difficult period for the fans and they would not want to experience that again.

It is important Arsenal tie Sanchez down to a new contract, allowing the Chile international leave could send wrong signals to other clubs who are interested in our top players.
