Manchester United are interested in signing Arsenal target and West Ham star Dimitri Payet, according to reports.

The France international’s future at West Ham has been up in the air in recent weeks despite signing a new contract with the Hammers earlier in the season and it’s been claimed that Wenger is preparing a winter bid to sign him.

West Ham started this season in poor form and although they have started to pick up, they are yet to match the standard they set last season which saw them finish the season in seventh place.

It was claimed Wenger was keeping an eye on West Ham form and would make a move for Payet in the new year if the Hammers continue to struggle.

But Wenger will now face serious competition from Manchester United to sign his compatriot.

According to a report in the Dailycannon.com, Manchester United are prepared to offer Fellaini in a swap deal to sign the former Olympic Marseille winger.

Wenger is a big fan of Payet, having monitored his development since his days in the French Ligue 1 but I don’t think he is interested in the winger at the moment.

Arsenal currently have enough personnels in the position Payet plays, although he will be an upgrade to most of our players in that position except Ozil, I do not think Wenger will want to spend big in the winter transfer window.

While Manchester United have shown they are prepared to spend big anytime and with Jose Mourinho’s men faltering, they could see signing Payet as a big opportunity to boost their chances of making the top four.

We will have to wait to find out if Wenger will be tempted into a making or move or if West Ham will be willing to part with their best player in the middle of a difficult season but I think both scenarios are unlikely.
