David Ospina seem to be fed up with playing as backup to Petr Cech at Arsenal and is open to a move away from the Emirates this summer.
The Colombian shot stopper who has been restricted to a handful of appearances in cup competitions this term is keen on playing regularly next season. Due to the presence of Cech at the Emirates, it is unlikely he will get that chance at Arsenal, which has prompted reports linking him with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
According to a report on Sports Witness, Ospina has spoken to Turkish newspaper Fanatik about his future, in which he revealed he will be interested in a move to the country.
The player also confirmed Arsenal will let him leave if a suitable offer comes in. He is quoted as saying:
“I told my club (Arsenal) that I want to go to a team where I’ll play regularly. They know my intention. If the right offer comes, then I’ll happily come to Turkey.
“My agent is taking care of transfer business. In fact, I’m happy at Arsenal but I have to play regularly. I told them exactly that. Arsenal’s board told me they will not be making things difficult for me if the right offer comes in. Let’s see what the future brings.”
The right offer he said? There was no mention of how much Arsenal will consider as the right offer but with the way the current trend in the transfer market, a goalkeeper of his quality is expected to cost a considerable amount of money.
Now what does an Ospina exit mean for Arsenal? Does it mean we’ll be in the market for a new back up goalkeeper or does it mean Wojciech Szczesny will be returning to the Emirates? No one is certain for now but Wenger might have dropped a clue last night when he hinted that we won’t be signing a goalkeeper even if one of those currently on our book leaves. Until then!
