AFC Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has backed Wilshere to reap the reward of his loan move.
The midfielder joined the Cherries until the end of the season on the last day of the transfer window and Howe is confident his side is the perfect place for the midfielder to kick start his career.
The Bournemouth boss told reporters: “He’s picked a very brave decision for me.
“He’s gone to a smaller club, he’s gone somewhere where there’s not everything here, there’s not everything done for him.
“It’s slightly old fashioned in the way that it’s like a step back in time for him compared with other Premier League clubs and I think he deserves credit for that.”
“I believe our environment can be good for him because the players work incredibly hard, they push themselves to improve and I think that’s a healthy environment for any footballer and that’s why I think he decided to come here ultimately.”
Injuries have delayed the midfielder’s progress in recent years, he spent majority of the last two seasons on the sideline and Howe is keen not to rush him back but ease him into action gradually.
And Howe said: “I just want to manage his workload so that he stays fit.
“I think that’s really important for him and I think he recognises that the most important thing isn’t Jack, it’s the team.”
Wilshere has already made three league appearances for Bournemouth this season and will be keen to get more playing time in order to prove his fitness to Arsene Wenger.
The midfielder is still highly rated at the Emirates and many believe he still has a key role to play for Arsenal in the future. However, all that depends on how he performs this season with Bournemouth.
