Arsene Wenger has said he is not obsessed with winning a title at Arsenal and has dropped a huge hint that he will sign another deal.
The Gunners boss has suffered criticism in recent years for the team’s failure to win major titles in the last decade but the French man has revealed winning another title for Arsenal is not an obsession.
Arsenal fans staged a protest last season, calling for the French man to step down if he cannot win more trophies for the club
Wenger’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Frenchman has revealed he isn’t under any pressure to win a final trophy at Arsenal.
“I am not obsessed by that. Would [ex-Manchester United manager Sir Alex] Ferguson not have gone out on a high after the history?
“Time makes a difference with what the guy has done. He would still be the same great manager had he not gone out on a high. You don’t lose his experience just in the last year.”
Wenger whose future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks also said he will stay at the club as long as he feels he can give more to the club. The boss is currently attracting interest from English FA and it was thought he could leave Arsenal at the end of the season but he has hinted that he could sign a new deal at the club.
“One of the factors is that the club and supporters still want me and I still want to stay,” Wenger said.
“What will make me want to stay is that I feel I can give more to the club.
“People know that if things go well my priority is this club. After I have to accept as well that if things don’t go well, maybe I do something else.
“If I look back, the way I manage today is not the same as it was five, 10 or 20 years ago. I accept that it can finish tomorrow. It’s a love story and you always expect a love story to last forever, but it can always stop suddenly.”
Wenger has won three Premier League titles and six FA cups in his 20 years at the club.
