Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Chelsea are set to beat Arsenal to the signature of Brazil striker Alexandre Pato, according to the Metro.
The Gunners were linked with the 26-year-old in November but Chelsea has Gazumped their rivals in the race to sign the former AC Milan man.
Several reports claimed the Gunners had inquired about the availability of the striker prior to the beginning of the transfer window and that the striker could be set to move to the Emirates.
According to ESPN Brazil via the Metro, the striker is on the verge of moving to Stamford Bridge with his agent Gilmar Veloz already in talks with the West London club.
Chelsea are currently in dire need of a centre forward with the inability of Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao to provide adequate competition for Diego Costa.
The Gunners are also in search of a striker but seems to have turned their attention away from the Brazilian and are now targeting either of Watford duo Troy Deeney or Odion Ighalo.
Pato scored nineteen league goals in fifty nine games while on loan at Sao Paulo.
