Deportivo La Coruna have made a £9m bid for Lucas Perez, according to reports.
Perez is expected to leave the Emirates this summer, after a frustrating first season at the club. He made just nine appearance in all competitions last term and a move away from the club now looks like his only option.
To make matters worse for Perez, Lacazette was handed the no 9 jersey he donned last year without his knowledge. He subsequently lashed out at that decision, insisting he wants to leave and his departure is close after Deportivo made a £9m bid for him.
According to Ibtimes UK via the Express, the La Liga club are now waiting for a response from Arsenal.
Perez reportedly held a meeting with Arsenal’s transfer negotiator Dick Law, where he expressed his desire to return back to the Deportivo and the official bid could force now Arsenal into action.
Fenerbahce are also keen on Perez but they have been working on a loan deal for the striker while Arsenal would prefer to sell him.
Wenger would like to recoup a huge part of the £17m Arsenal spent on him last summer and Deportivo’s offer isn’t appealing.
But, we can’t afford to play hardball with negotiations because we may become stuck with a player who wants to leave and who doesn’t have a place in our squad, which may just force us to accept Deportivo’s low-ball offer.
